Tabula — Privacy Policy
Short version: Tabula collects no personal information — no accounts, no advertising, and no cross-app tracking. The only thing it records is anonymous, aggregate usage — which features get used and whether a purchase happened — kept unlinked to your identity and used only to understand how the app is used.
What the app does with data
Tabula (the "Tabula Fretboard" app) is a guitar practice and music-theory tool. When you generate a riff, the musical settings you choose — scale, key, tuning, technique, position — are sent to our generation service to compute the notes, and the result is returned to your device. These requests contain only musical parameters. They do not include your name, email, contacts, location, identifiers, or any other personal information, because the app never asks for or accesses those.
Anonymous usage data
To understand which features people use, the app records a small amount of anonymous, coarse usage data: interaction events (for example, generating a riff, opening the unlock sheet) and in-app purchase events (a purchase started or completed). This is tied to a random identifier generated on your device — not to your name, email, Apple Account, or any personal identifier — and it contains no personal information. We do not use it to build a profile of you, to advertise, or to track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell or share it with third parties for their own use. This corresponds to the App Store privacy label entries Usage Data (Product Interaction) and Purchases (Purchase History), both marked "not linked to you."
What we do not do
- No user accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising and no ad identifiers.
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs — the usage data above is first-party and anonymous.
- No selling or sharing of data with third parties for their own use.
- No tracking across other apps or websites.
- No access to your photos, contacts, microphone, or location.
Third-party services
Two ordinary infrastructure services are involved in delivering the app, and neither is used to identify you:
- Hosting (Vercel). Our generation service runs on Vercel. Like any web server, it may transiently process the network request (including IP address) needed to return a response. We do not use this to build a profile of you.
- Fonts (Google Fonts). The interface loads two typefaces from Google's font CDN, which may receive your IP address as part of serving the font files, per Google's policy. We bundle this away in a future update.
Distribution is handled by Apple (App Store / TestFlight) under Apple's own privacy terms.
Children
Tabula is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date.
